Another significance of Akshaya Tritiya is considered as the arrival of Maa Ganga River from heaven to Earth, by king Bhagiratha, in order to purify mankind. It is believed that taking holy dip or bath on this day washes away sins and grants Moksha.
It is believed that a dip in the Ganga on this day is auspicious, as the day represents eternal meaning Akshaya and the water of Ganga purifies the soul of all sins.
On this day, the Gangotri Temple, dedicated to the goddess Ganga, opens for devotees, and special pujas are performed to celebrate her arrival on Earth.
Story 3: The Blessing by Lord Sun: The Akshaya Patra

When Pandavas lost in game of dice (Dyuta) against Kauravas, they were exiled for 12 years and 1 year for hiding, during that time as per Bhagwan Krishan order Yudhishthira and Draupadi prayed to Lord Sun, so that they can survive during hardships of exile.
After their prayer, Surya Bhagwan provided them with Akshya Patra, which provide endless food during exile, until Draupadi finish her meal.
